Meet Carl Johnson: SharePoint Expert, Flag Football Coach and Captain Crunch Enthusiast.
Carl Johnson recently joined the C3 Integrated Solutions team as the Director of Collaboration and Governance. He’s a senior SharePoint & Office 365 Consultant with expertise in advising organizations on how to shift large workforces to work from home using Microsoft Office 365 and Teams. In addition to his vast expertise in SharePoint architecture, governance, migrations, and compliance, he’s also an author, speaker, and evangelist in information governance using SharePoint and Office 365 DLP (data loss protection) features. And while his resume is impressive, we sat down with Carl to learn a little bit more about what makes him tick. We weren’t disappointed.
What do you like best about your job?
CJ: I’ve just started a few weeks ago, but already I find that every day is different and every customer keeps you on your toes. I love to be challenged and solve complex problems, so this is exactly what I look for in a job.
What does your perfect day look like?
CJ: I wake up, brew some coffee, crack open my laptop and have an inbox full of e-mails from potential customers asking us to send them SOW’s. By day’s end we have brand new clients to add to the C3 family, and I go to sleep excited about getting started again the next day.
What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
CJ: In my personal life, my biggest accomplishment is, of course, raising my now 13-year-old son. Teenagers sometimes get a bad rap, but I think this is a good age for a boy – he’s starting to figure out his place in the world, but I’m still a big part of his life, because he needs his Dad to help him navigate. And, I get to be his flag football coach for a few more years. In professional like, it was managing a large global company’s Active Directory and SharePoint migration. It was challenging to say the least, but I learned a lot and it was incredibly rewarding to pull it off.
Now for the fun questions…what’s your guilty pleasure?
CJ: Ah yes….I think my most favorite guilty pleasure is eating a bowl of Captain Crunch cereal while watching 80’s Saturday morning cartoons on YouTube. If you remember the ‘80s like me, you know it doesn’t get much better than that!
What’s your philosophy toward work?
CJ: Merely hoping for the best is not a solution. And, I’m a big believer in personal responsibility. We all mess up occasionally, so just fess up to your mistake and move on.
What are you good at?
CJ: I really pride myself in the relationships develop with my clients. I strive to be a trusted adviser and listen to what they need and want. In my personal life, I know my way around a kitchen. I love to cook, and I’ve been told I’m pretty darn good at it.
What do you hate to do?
CJ: Taking out the trash. But remember when I said I had a teenager? Problem solved!
What’s your fondest memory from childhood?
Playing street tag with my friends. I think any adult looks back on his childhood and has fond memories of the vast number of hours that we had to do absolutely nothing.
Now its time for the speed round…name your FAVORITE:
Musician and Band: Marvin Gaye, The Eagles
TV Show: Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David is a genius.
Book: The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Welcome to the C3 family Carl. We promise, you’ll never have to take out the trash!
